Who? Jamie Rockers (Instagram: @beautyrocksblog)

Where? St. Vincent and The Grenadines

What top 5 beauty products do you always pack for a beach holiday and why?

  1. SPF! This might seem like a no brainer but I pack plenty of SPF, and not just any old SPF... but SPF that is reef and ocean safebecause if I’m planning to have a dip in the sea, I want to make sure that whatever is on my body isn’t going to harm the environment. I pack a cream SPF, a dry oil SPF and a mist SPF and apply the cream an hour before going into the sun and carry the dry oil or mist SPF with me to the beach for top-ups throughout the day! I like an SPF 50 for maximum protection against UVA and UVB because let me tell you, prevention is always better than the cure!

  2. Fake tan. Again, this goes back to protecting my skin against UV rays. I love to be in the sun but safely. I always make sure to bring fake tan with me – I love the Vita Liberata organic tan formulas because they are safe and effective. I love having a bit of sun-kissed colour and I don’t mind at all if it comes from a bottle because hey, no skin damage! I do try to be careful about fake tan rubbing off on white sheets, so I always sleep on a towel.

  3. Gel Mask or Aloe Sheet Mask. Whenever I know my skin will be overexposed to the sun, I love to bring a cooling rosewater mask or a cucumber mask. Peter Thomas Roth does some amazing gel masks that are so soothing, plus you only need 5 minutes for them to work their magic!

  4. UV Spray for my hair! You can see a real sun-safe theme going on here hey? L’Oreal Professionaldoes an amazing one as does Philip Kingsley. Our hair can get damaged from overexposure to the sun as well. Chlorine and too much sea salt can also really dry it out so it’s also very important to look after our hair.

  5. Body Oil.We all love going to hot destinations, and when the weather is warmer this often means we bare more skin. I usually wear short dresses and sleeveless tops to the beach and in the evenings for dinner, so I like to accentuate my tan (fake or real) by applying body oil to give myself a real glow up.

Top packing tip?

Decanting beauty products into smaller containers is great, because you don’t have to buy travel minis and contribute to the growing plastic waste problem. The Bolt skincare capsules are brilliant for travel as well because you can literally fit your entire skincare routine in your bag!If I’m going away for some time or need to pack a lot, I use vacuum pack bags to really squeeze in the amount of outfits. I have also been known to wear multiple layers on short-haul flights to save checking in a bag... a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do!

Favourite sight to see in Europe?

The Canary Islands, definitely. I studied Spanish both in secondary school and at university so I love visiting the Canary Islands because I get the chance to practice my Spanish and hit the gorgeous beaches. The flight is about 4 hours from the UK as well, so it’s far enough away to feel like you really got away. I also really like the Algarve in Portugal. It’s not very far away and again, beautiful beaches!

Favourite beach?

Oh my favourite beach… so hard! I’ve been fortunate enough to see so many amazing beaches. Tonga in the South Pacific was a special one because I spotted a whale and there are so many rock formations. Saipan in Micronesia again has a stunning beach that feels like the Maldives. St. Vincent and The Grenadines also has unbelievable beaches with crystal clear water that looks like a swimming pool. I also love the beaches of Malibu, California for the delicious restaurants and dolphin spotting. The Great Barrier Reef of course as well, for the variety of fish you see when snorkelling and diving. Borneo, Zanzibar…the list goes on and on.

What does the perfect date night in St. Vincent and The Grenadines look like?

Locally-caught fish for dinner, followed by champagne and most likely some rum tasting. The date would end with a walk on the beach to listen to the waves and stargaze.
